Sugar Translocation in Trees

The Change in the Season

Trees store energy efficiently.
They reclaim the sugars made during photosynthesis
from the leaves in Autumn.

A very dramatic activity...

And they turn red to take advantage of different wavelengths of light, to continue photosynthesis even though the sunshine is leaving us.

It's a fascinating subject.

It's particularly interesting to see the difficulties faced by botanists when it comes to devising tests for plant behaviour.
