Berberis Flower Against a Blue Sky
The Japanese Barberry, a personal favourite, can tolerate semi-shade.
Berries in Autumn are an added bonus.

Just Another Figure in the Wall
I never got to see what was inside the building whose façade so interested me in Melbourne. We turned up on a Monday. It is closed Mondays.
So, while gathering wits, I took to snapping at what was overhead...
the Glory that was Greece...
After that, an afternoon wandering round on trams and a strong coffee in an Italian shop that sold every coffee making implement known to humanity.
A memorable day.

Dicentra in the Woodland Glade
Dicentra spectabilis is a wonderful choice for the shaded and/or damp garden.
A passionate flower, it looks like dramatic bleeding hearts,
or so the popular imagination says.
